Licensing
A plain summary of the SAGA licensing model, trial and purchased access, commercial use, and ownership of user-created output.
SAGA is proprietary software published by Shawn Gordon and distributed through the Autodesk Design and Make Marketplace.
Copyright © 2026 Shawn Gordon. All rights reserved.
The license terms that govern a user’s copy of SAGA are the terms presented with the Marketplace transaction or installer, together with any SAGA-specific terms presented at purchase, installation, or first use. This page summarizes SAGA’s licensing model and does not replace the applicable end-user agreement.
Trial and purchased access
SAGA is available as a paid, one-time-purchase application with the Marketplace Free 30-Day Trial option enabled. The trial is fully functional: output is not watermarked, and customer logos and cover images remain available.
Autodesk controls both trial and purchased Marketplace access. SAGA does not run a separate local trial clock and cannot display whether an active entitlement is a trial or purchase. It asks Autodesk only whether the signed-in account currently has valid Marketplace access.
A previously successful Autodesk result may be used for up to 24 hours if Autodesk’s entitlement service is temporarily unavailable. This 24-hour period is SAGA-specific cache behavior; it is not an Autodesk-required duration. A completed negative result from Autodesk takes effect immediately. Expiration or loss of access does not delete or alter existing SAGA projects or previously generated PDFs.
What the license allows
A valid license allows the purchaser to install and use SAGA with Autodesk Fusion under the applicable terms presented with the Marketplace transaction, installer, or SAGA itself.
Commercial use is allowed. Users may use SAGA to create assembly guides, manuals, images, bills of materials, and other output for personal projects, client work, products, and commercial sales.
Users keep ownership of their own:
- Fusion models
- SAGA projects
- Written instructions
- Images and annotations
- Parts and BOM data
- Logos and branding
- Generated PDFs and other publication output
SAGA does not claim ownership of user-created content.
What the license does not allow
The SAGA application itself may not be copied, republished, resold, sublicensed, redistributed, or reverse engineered outside the rights granted by the applicable agreement or by applicable law. Copyright or license notices may not be removed except where applicable law provides a right that cannot be waived.
The public SAGA support repository contains documentation only. Its presence on GitHub does not make the SAGA application open-source software.
Autodesk relationship
SAGA works with Autodesk Fusion, but it is not an Autodesk product. Autodesk does not sponsor, endorse, or warrant SAGA.
