Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to common questions about SAGA, supported platforms, Marketplace access, licensing, privacy, and support.
What is SAGA?
SAGA — Shawn’s Assembly Guide Authoring — is an Autodesk Fusion add-in for building illustrated assembly guides from the Fusion model and view already being used to design the product.
Who is SAGA for?
SAGA is intended for makers, independent product designers, 3D-printable product creators, small hardware sellers, and similar users who need clear assembly documentation without an enterprise documentation system.
Where should I start?
Use the Quick Start to go from first launch to a finished PDF. The User Guide provides additional workflow detail, and Troubleshooting covers common recovery and access questions.
Where can I get SAGA?
SAGA for Fusion version 1.0.2 is live on the Autodesk Design and Make Marketplace.
Does SAGA upload my Fusion model or project files?
No. SAGA projects, captures, instructions, BOM information, and generated PDFs stay in the local folders chosen by the user. SAGA contacts Autodesk only as needed to verify Marketplace access. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Is SAGA a subscription?
No. SAGA is available through the Autodesk Design and Make Marketplace as a paid, one-time-purchase application.
Can I try SAGA before buying it?
Yes. The live Marketplace listing has Autodesk’s Free 30-Day Trial option enabled. The trial is fully functional and does not watermark PDFs or disable customer branding.
Autodesk controls both trial and purchased Marketplace access. SAGA does not run a separate local trial clock. When Autodesk reports that access is no longer valid, authoring and PDF publication remain unavailable until valid access is reported again. Existing projects and previously generated PDFs are not deleted or altered.
Can I use SAGA for commercial work?
Yes. A valid SAGA license allows users to create manuals and other output for their own products, client work, and commercial sales. Users keep ownership of their own models, projects, instructions, images, branding, and published output. See Licensing for the applicable terms.
Does SAGA support macOS?
No. SAGA 1.0 supports Windows only.
Does SAGA start automatically with Fusion?
No. Automatic startup is disabled by default. Start SAGA from Utilities > Scripts and Add-Ins. Fusion may allow users to enable automatic startup later.
Is the SAGA source code available in this repository?
No. This repository contains public support and policy documents only. SAGA is proprietary software.
Does SAGA replace Fusion Drawings or Fusion Animation?
No. SAGA focuses on illustrated assembly-guide authoring and publication. It is not intended to replace Fusion Drawings, Fusion Animation, or an enterprise PLM system.
How do I get support?
Email sagaappsupport@gmail.com. Include the SAGA version, Fusion version, Windows version, exact error message when one appears, and the steps that reproduce the problem. See the Support Policy for coverage and response information.
